International Organization for Standardization (ISO), based in Geneva, Switzerland. Established in 1947, ISO is a worldwide non-governmental federation, currently composed of the national standards bodies of 130 countries. The mission of ISO is to promote the development of standardization and related activities in the world with a view to facilitating the international exchange of goods and services, and to develop co-operation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological, and economic activity.
