Laminations

(1) A type of discontinuity with separation or weakness generally aligned parallel to the worked surface of a metal. May be the result of pipe, blisters, seams inclusions or segregation elongated and made directional by working. (2) Elongated defects in a finished metal product, resulting from rolling of a welded or other part containing a blow hole. Actually the blowhole is stretched out in the direction of the rolling.
